Unlike “top”, it provides a more convenient, visual, cursor-controlled interface for sending signals to processes. It is designed as an alternative to the utility called “top”. Htop command shows a full list of processes running on the system along with visual information for processor, memory and swap status. This awesome tool is written in C programming language by Hisham Muhammad. Htop is a terminal-based system monitoring and process-managing tool designed for Unix based operating systems. There are many great tools available to monitor and manage processes on Linux. There may be times when a process will be consuming most of the resources of your system or you want to increase/decrease the priority of a process.
